Li is one of the best all-purpose jujubes for a home orchard, combining large fruit, crisp fresh-eating texture, and excellent dried quality. The plump, round fruit ripens from green to reddish brown and offers a refreshing apple-like crunch with mild honey sweetness. Pick it firm for snacking, slicing, and lunchboxes, or let the fruit wrinkle and dry for a chewy, richer, date-like treat. Its generous size makes preparation easy, whether the harvest is destined for baking, tea, storage, or eating directly beneath the tree. Fine leaves and small late-spring flowers give Li an attractive, airy canopy, while exceptional heat tolerance and drought resistance make the tree dependable in climates that challenge many conventional fruits. For new jujube growers, Li is an especially welcoming introduction: productive, adaptable, versatile in the kitchen, and satisfying at multiple stages of ripeness. Li came to American orchards through early USDA introductions of named Chinese jujube cultivars.

Plant in full sun and well-drained soil with room for a standard tree. Develop a sturdy framework when young, then prune for airflow and convenient picking. Once established, Li tolerates drought, but regular water during fruit development supports larger, juicier fruit.

Li is self-fruitful and can produce alone. Another jujube can increase pollinator activity and may enhance production; Li is also a particularly useful pollinizer for Lang, making the pair a practical orchard combination.
