Safer Caterpillar Killer II is a 16-ounce concentrate containing Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki (Btk) for label-listed caterpillar larvae on vegetables, fruits, ornamentals, trees, and shrubs. Btk must be eaten by susceptible young larvae, so accurate pest identification, early timing, and complete foliage coverage are more important than simply increasing the spray concentration.
Inspect leaf undersides and growing tips, then begin treatment when small larvae or fresh feeding damage first appear. Mix only the crop-specific label rate and wet both sides of the foliage without excessive runoff. Late-afternoon or cloudy-day application can limit ultraviolet breakdown of the biological active ingredient. Recheck plants after treatment and repeat at the label interval if feeding continues. Do not assume every leaf-chewing insect is a caterpillar controlled by Btk; beetles, sawfly larvae, and mature caterpillars may require a different approach. Clean application equipment after use and observe all crop, harvest, storage, and disposal directions.
